| Navigating MyPublisher™ 3.0 Software |
Before you begin making your Photo Book, you will need to select the following from the Start Book screens within MyPublisher:
1. |
the size of the book you wish to create (PocketBook, Classic or Deluxe)
2. |
the style of your book such as captions, just photos or themed designs (Bestseller, Just Photos, Modern, Storyteller, Travel, Wedding, Baby Boy or Baby Girl)
3. |
the cover style of your book (for Classic or Deluxe Hardcovers only you will have a choice between a Picture Window or a Book Jacket cover; PocketBooks have Printed Covers). |
Now you are ready to begin making your book in 5 easy steps:
1. Get Photos
2. Organize
3. Make Book
4. Preview
5. Purchase
1. Get Photos
Step 1 - Get Photos allows you to bring photos into MyPublisher for use in your book using the file system on your computer.
To copy photos into MyPublisher, click on Get Photos, and select your photo files from the directory. Your photos will be displayed on the upper portion of the screen. There are three ways of selecting photos to be used in your book:
1. |
Drag and drop the photo into the lower filmstrip area: Left-click on the photo, drag it into the filmstrip area, and release the mouse-button.
2. |
Double-click on the photo. Please be aware that clicking too quickly may duplicate the image in the filmstrip area. Each photo that you select will be added at the end of filmstrip, all the way to the right.
3. |
Left-click on the photo you want to add and then click on the Add Photos button at the bottom of the screen. |
Use the scroll bar beneath the filmstrip area to preview
all the photos you have selected.
Inserting Multiple Photos at one time
You can drag multiple photos into MyPublisher at one time by left-clicking on the first photo you want to insert, while holding down the Shift key. Then you can either use the scroll bar or keyboard navigation to advance to the last photo in the file you want to add. All the photos should be highlighted in blue. Or you can select multiple photos by holding down the Shift key and left clicking on individual photos. Then simply drag the entire highlighted area into the filmstrip area in the bottom of the screen.
Removing Photos
There are two ways of removing a photo from the filmstrip
area:
1. |
Right-click on the photo and select Remove Photo.
2. |
Left-click on the photo and click on the Remove Photo button located at the very bottom of your screen. |
Removing the photo will remove it from the software, not
from your computer. If you want to add this photo back
into the software, you will need to go to Get Photos and follow the instructions above.
You have now selected all the photos you want to use to create your PhotoBook. The next step is organizing these photos.
Click on Step 2 - Organize from the toolbar located at the bottom of your screen.
Your images will be displayed in the order in which they were placed in the filmstrip area in the Get Photos function. In Organize, you can arrange your photos into the order you would like to use them in your Book. Simply left-click on a photo and drag it to the desired position on your screen. The photo will be inserted where the vertical light-blue line appears
Your photos will not actually be placed into pages in the book until Step 3 - Make Book. After photos have been added to a page, the page number that each photo resides on is displayed above each photo in organize.
NOTE: If you place photos on a page in Make Book then go back to Organize and rearrange them, these photos will not change sequence or order in which you placed them on your pages. All order changes to photos on your pages need to be made in Make Book.
3.
Make Book
Overview
In Step 3 -
Make Book, you will be able to create pages, add photos
and captions, enhance images,
and modify your Book Style and Page Layout
selections. Make Book defaults to a manual
book-building mode, whereby you can build
your book page-by-page by following these
instructions:
1. |
Page Type — first select the Page Type you would like to use for the particular page you are working on. Page Type means how many photos you would like on the page, or a text-only or cover page.
2. |
Page Layout — once you have selected your Page Type, then you can select your Page Layout, how the photos are arranged on the page (with or without captions), or which cover you would like to use.
3. |
Finally, drag and drop your photos into the empty photo molds that you see on the page ( gray boxes) and enter any captions you would like, if your selected layout offers captions.
4. |
Advance to the next page by clicking the next arrow in the lower right hand corner. |
NOTE: If you do not fill all photo molds or enter all captions in
the Page Layout you selected, the empty space on the page will print the background
color , i.e. white, black or
gray. Neither the photo caption box nor the outline of the photo
mold will appear on the page.

The MyPublisher software provides a number of tools to enhance the way that your photos will be printed.
The Enhance Photo features are accessible in the Get Photos, Organize and Make Book modes of MyPublisher from the standard menu bar on the top of the screen. However, you may find that selecting Enhance from the Make Book mode is the most effective place in the software to enhance your images.
Three ways to access the enhance features:
| 1. In Enhance Photo, only ONE image is displayed on the screen. | ||
![]() |
While in Make Book mode, click on the Enhance Photo button in the design toolbar below the design mat. The enhance features will appear below it. The Back and Next arrows on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen will allow you to view every image of your book individually and allow you to edit if necessary. |
|
| 2. In Make Book mode, you can enhance your images while seeing how they will appear on the page in relation to the other images on that page. | ||
![]() |
Click on Make Book mode from the tool bar under the design mat.
![]() |
In the 1 Page or 2 Page view, left-click on the image that you would like to enhance. A toolbar will appear on the screen above the image and all 10 enhance features are displayed as icons (as opposed to text).
| 3. Right-click the image. | ||
![]() |
Alternatively, if you right-click on the image that you would like to enhance, a menu list of all enhance options will appear on the screen next to the image. Choose your option from the list.
Below is a list of the enhance features accessible through
MyPublisher:

Red-Eye Removal: You can reduce the red-eye often found in photos with a few simple clicks. Red eye reduction is accessible via the mini-enhance tool bar that pops up when you click on an image in the book. It is also accessible via the Enhance Photo menu. To use the red-eye tool, place the cursor and drag the box (you can make the box as large or as small as you'd like) around the portion you wish to reduce the red-eye for. It is even possible to do multiple eyes at one time. After selecting the area, the Red Eye Removal box pops up. From that point, you either accept the suggested correction, or increase/decrease the sensitivity. When done, click the accept button to finalize the changes. Note: while the red-eye tool works extremely well, if a photo has red face paint on or is exceptionally red, it is possible that the red-eye tool will try to correct other red colors. Therefore it is best to select the area as close to the red-eye as possible to avoid this. |

Rotate: This feature will rotate the image 90 degrees (one quarter turn) clockwise (to the right). Images may need to be rotated if the original photo was imported in the incorrect orientation (landscape/horizontal instead of portrait/vertical, or vice versa). The photo can be rotated back to its original position, if desired. If you have an older operating system, there might be a lag time between clicking the button and the actual rotation of the image. If you click the Rotate button too fast or too many times, the image might take a few seconds to reorient itself to the desired position.
![]() |
Flip: This feature flips the image such that the final result is a mirrored image of the original. Selecting the Flip button again will not flip the image back to its original position. In order to flip the image back, click on the Undo button.
![]() |
Black and White: This feature converts a color image to a black and white image. Selecting the Black and White button again will not convert the image back to color . In order to convert the image from black and white to color , click on the Undo button.
![]() |
Auto Adjust: This feature is designed for those images
that may benefit from slight adjustments in tone, brightness, or contrast,
such as:
If you want to revert your adjusted image back to its original state, click on the Undo button. |
||||||||||
![]() |
Auto fit: This feature will automatically resize your photo so that it fits into the photo frame of the particular page layout you selected. To undo the auto fit, click on the Undo button.
![]() |
Zoom In: Clicking on the Zoom In feature will enlarge
a photo in increments of 1%. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard
while you're clicking on the Zoom In button in order to enlarge your
photo in increments of 5% each time you click on the Zoom In button. NOTE: If the outline around your photo changes from blue to RED, the resolution of this photo is below the recommended level for using the current zoom feature. The red outline around the photo indicates a less-than-optimum resolution. Please zoom out or use the photo with a higher resolution. If this photo is not adjusted or removed from the book, it will not print as sharply as it appears on your screen. It is strongly recommended that you adjust or remove any images in your book that have red outlines around them. |
||||||||||

Zoom Out: Clicking on the Zoom Out feature will reduce the size of the photo in increments of either 1% or 5%. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard while you're clicking on the Zoom Out button in order to reduce the size of your photo in increments of 5% each time you click the Zoom Out button.
![]() |
Move: This feature will move (re-position) the photo within the confines of the photo frame. Click the Move button and then position the cursor (hand) on top of the image you'd like to move. Click the mouse button to grab the photo and drag it into the position you want it in. When you have the photo where you want it, release the mouse button. To get the image back to where you had it originally, click on the Undo button. If the original picture filled up the entire photo frame (prior to re-positioning it), you could also click on Auto Fit so that the picture will resize to fit the frame again.
![]() |
Crop: This feature allows you to select an area of a photo you want to include. Any area outside of the area selected will be removed from the image. In order to go back to the original photo size, click on the Undo button.
The Preview step allows you to view your book exactly as it will appear in print. It is necessary to Preview your book before ordering since MyPublisher cannot edit your book once it has been uploaded.
In order to preview your book, click Step 4 - Preview button below the design mat. You can either preview your book in a slideshow format or manually page by page.
